A Sculptural Statement: Hedley Studios Unveils Stunning Ferrari Testa Rossa J Sculpture
A must-have tribute to the inimitable Ferrari Testa Rossa, Hedley Studios’ 75% scaled reinterpretation of the legendary racer has now been developed into the ultimate design object for discerning collectors.
The Ferrari Testa Rossa J Sculpture is a striking, handcrafted tribute to the electrified car, designed and built by Hedley Studios’ team of expert engineers. A statement piece for any collector or enthusiast, the sculpture measures 3.1m x 1.1m x 0.7m, and is limited to just 19 units worldwide, referencing the original production run of the ‘Pontoon Fender’ Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas, each bodied by legendary Italian coachbuilder, Sergio Scaglietti.
An exclusive piece, the Ferrari Testa Rossa J Sculpture has been developed with the utmost care, attention and precision that goes into the car itself. The sleek, intricately formed bodywork is the result of over 300 hours of craftsmanship, with the panels shaped using traditional panel beating techniques. In addition to this, a two-week process of hand machining provides the wonderfully polished look to the completed sculpture.
While the eyes are initially drawn to the official Ferrari prancing horse badge, a focused attention to detail brings to life a number of other features that testify to the Testa Rossa J’s famous racing heritage. Front and rear light lenses accentuate the shape of the Testa Rossa J, while subtle bonnet straps serve to add as an additional nod to the original racer.
A wonderful fusion of engineering and design, the sculpture harks back to the enigmatic spirit of the legendary coachbuilder and designer Sergio Scaglietti, the man responsible for the design of the original 250 Testa Rossa. Scaglietti’s instinctive and traditional style saw him reject technical sketches, trusting instead in his eye for his craft and his skill in hand-beating techniques to gain the favour of Enzo himself, who entrusted him to design some of Ferrari’s most iconic competition cars.
Ben Hedley, Founder and CEO of Hedley Studios, said: “The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is a car steeped in history and magic, and with our stunning wall sculpture, we’ve aimed to capture the spirit of the original icon’s creation. The legends of Maranello that masterminded and crafted the 250 Testa Rossa were meticulous and delicate in their technique, and our team of engineers have emulated this focus and dedication in their hours spent crafting our wonderful Testa Rossa J sculpture.
“Each example of the 19 sculptures that we will produce will be made to order at our Bicester Heritage HQ, in the UK. For any car enthusiast, our Ferrari Testa Rossa J Sculpture is a true celebration of intricate and alluring design. A statement piece that simultaneously captures attention and celebrates heritage and automotive greatness, like that of Scaglietti, the sculpture has already been met with resounding enthusiasm from a selection of VIPs that were lucky enough to get a sneak peek.”
